Tag Question (ট্যাগ প্রশ্ন) কী? (Definition)
Tag Question (ট্যাগ প্রশ্ন) হলো একটি ছোট প্রশ্ন, যা কোনো statement (বর্ণনামূলক বাক্য)-এর শেষে যোগ করা হয়। এটি সাধারণত তথ্য নিশ্চিত করতে (confirm information), সম্মতি জানতে (seek agreement), অথবা কথোপকথনকে আরও স্বাভাবিক (natural conversation) করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Structure of a Tag Question (গঠন)
Structure:
Statement + , + Auxiliary (Helping Verb) + Pronoun + ?
Example:
She is a teacher, isn’t she?
Basic Rule 1: Positive Statement → Negative Tag (ইতিবাচক বাক্য → নেতিবাচক ট্যাগ)
যদি statement (মূল বাক্য) ইতিবাচক (Positive) হয়, তবে tag question নেতিবাচক (Negative) হবে।
Examples:
- You are tired, aren’t you?
- She is honest, isn’t she?
- They have finished the work, haven’t they?
- Rahim can drive, can’t he?
Basic Rule 2: Negative Statement → Positive Tag (নেতিবাচক বাক্য → ইতিবাচক ট্যাগ)
যদি statement (মূল বাক্য) নেতিবাচক (Negative) হয়, তবে tag question ইতিবাচক (Positive) হবে।
Examples:
- Ratul doesn’t like coffee, does he?
- She isn’t ready, is she?
- They haven’t arrived yet, have they?
- You can’t swim, can you?
